From the academy to the community
The Raphael Institute is a place for translation between the academy and the community in matters of human health and faith. So often, the excellent work of researchers in this field, whether medical, psychological or theological, does not get to those in need on the ground, and to those who seek to minister to them.
This day conference is a forum for those who wish to see their academic/professional work get from the academy to the community. It will include speakers who are already seeking to make this happen, and those skilled in communication and outreach. It will be a chance to network with those who have a similar interest in the potential to find healing through a conversation between science and religion, and between academic engagement and real life. It is hoped that this day conference will be a beginning for new work and resources, where wisdom is collated and translated into action, for the benefit of the church and for those who are suffering.
The conference is run in collaboration with The Centre for the Study of Theology and Health based at Holy Rood House in Thirsk, which is a centre not only for academic engagement but for healing and wholeness. The conference is open to anyone engaged in academic research or working professionally in the medical and psychological healthcare services.
